This isolator is designed for Dadant hives.
The Dadant 2-frame metal isolator can be used for various purposes such as:
- Reducing the brood of the queen bee. The isolator allows to reduce the nest size of the bee colony, which can be beneficial for strong colonies that do not have enough food for the whole winter. Reducing the queen's brood also allows for a reduction in the number of worker bees, which can be beneficial for colonies that are exposed to disease or other stress factors.
- The isolator can be used to separate a queen bee in preparation for introducing it into another hive or for rearing queen brood.
- The isolator can be used to prevent the queen bee from laying eggs during the winter period. This will give the bee colony more time to recover before the start of the new season.
- Control of Varroa destructor by isolating the queen. The queen bee can be placed in an isolator with her brood, and the attendant bees will be able to enter and leave the isolator freely, taking the varroa mites with them
The use of the isolator is simple. All you need to do is insert it into the hive and then place the frames with brood or bees in it. The queen bees will not be able to get out of the frames and the attendant bees will be able to pass freely through the openings.
